The future is bright in 2081, Constitutional Amendments numbered 211, 212, and 213 have brought about the ultimate goal of true 'equality'. The Handicapper General of the United States (Tammy Bruce) is tasked with keeping those with unfair advantages from exploiting them. George Bergeron (James Cosmo) is of high intelligence, and so he is handicapped with a device that disrupts his thoughts every thirty seconds or so. Hazel Bergeron (Julie Hagerty) is average and therefore requires no limitations. Together the two are parents to Harrison Bergeron (Armie Hammer), who is both physically and mentally gifted and therefore required to suffer great handicaps in the name of 'equality'. The story chronicles the Bergeron family and their efforts to live in this world, and what they do about it.
