Chuck Reardon (Bing Crosby) and 'Fearless' Frazier (Bob Hope) find themselves running from the carnival when their sideshow act burns the place down. Stranded on the coast of Africa they are virtually without money leaving Chuck to decide to spend what little money they do have to save a helpless slave girl, Donna Latour (Dorothy Lamour). Chuck and Frazier fall in love with her and when they discover it was all stage to take their money, they strike out. On their own again, they try to raise enough money to return to the states.
